Children's Portraits Welcome to my children's portrait gallery. I studied photography at the Art Institute of Colorado, worked for a few studios and eventually ended up running my own portrait studio for awhile. I then had the good fortune of working for several years with the hottest children's portrait studio in Denver, run by one of the best portrait photographers in the business. Even though I also love color portraiture, the endearing Black & White hand colored portraits in this gallery are my specialty and are a favorite of parents who are looking for a nostalgic style that stands out. First, the color is removed from the photo using a process that duplicates the unique tonal range of the old black & white films. Custom colors are then painted back in, one stroke at a time, using brushes and special blending techniques in Adobe Photoshop. The color is applied with great detail and often in multiple layers to create the special look of these portraits. Because I specialize in children's photography, I know what it takes to capture that personality and emotion in a portrait. Working with the kids is a fun and rewarding experience, and it shows!
